Basketball League: SK West beat SK East in Serrekunda derby

The Serrekunda West men basketball team on Sunday defeated their arch-rivals Serrekunda East men basketball team 79 sets to 69 during the Serrekunda-derby fixture of the ongoing Gambia Basketball Association (GBA) League season.

The Serrekunda derby match ended Serrekunda East men basketball team’s unbeaten run after 10 points victory by Serrekunda West at the Independence Stadium’s Basketball Court.

Both teams won four consecutive league matches prior to their crunch clash.

Captain of Serrekunda East Adama Cham emerged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) during the Serrekunda derby match after collecting 19 points over his teammate Goorgi Sowe with 18 points.

His opponent Paul Baben of Serrekunda West secured 16 points during their clash.

The victory now earns Serrekunda West top-spot on the league table after five games.

Serrekunda West remain the only side unbeaten in the league with few more matches remaining before the end of the first round.

E Lamin Skylanders beat Brikama United 59 sets to 52 in their West Coast derby game to record their first win of the season after five games during a match played at the Independence Stadium Basketball Court on Sunday.

LetItFly beat Lamin Starwars 75 sets to 67.

 University of The Gambia (UTG) defeated Nusrat Ballers 53 sets to 49.

The games were played at the Africell Park in Fajara, Traffic Light.
