The theme for this year’s summit is “Moment for the Youth, action for more sustainable development.” Besides, the summit seeks to encourage policy dialogue, enhance robust investment for youth to achieve their desired goals. It is also meant to strengthen youth ecosystem to actively participate and support the implementation of the recovery focus national development plan
At a recent presser, Alagie Jarju, executive director of the National Youth Council, said that The Gambia is one of the six countries that launched youth Connekt as part of its development component.
“The Youth Connekt also seeks to bridge the unemployment gap and equally promote youth participation in public policy making. ”
The purpose of the summit, he added, is to create job opportunities and to support young people in their business plans.
Mr. Basiru Jaye, Youthconnekt focal person, reminded that the idea of the event is to connect young people to work together in a very productive and economical environment.
The summit, he added, is not an open summit and that it is restricted only to the shortlisted delegates and invitees. Therefore those whose applications were not accepted can follow the summit online.
