The dinner night was preceded with a forum held to discuss the economy, challenges of The Gambia and potential bilateral relationship between the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency and the Wisconsin Economy Development Cooperation. The event also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two sides, meant to foster relationships and boost the country’s economy.
Speaking at the event, Mellisa Hurges, Secretary and CEO of Wisconsin Economic Development Cooperation WEDC, says that entering into an MOU dictates their future action and it also a means that they are going to continue working together since it has been put into writing which is encouraging.
Samba Baldeh, a state representative of Wisconsin, expressed delight to be elected and to be a part of the initiative, further expressing optimism that the initiative would bring about new opportunities for the country.
The Gala Dinner took place at Senegambia Bakadaji Hotel on the 3rd of October, The First Lady of the Gambia graced the occasion with other cabinet ministers as well.
A musical performance from a band kept “everyone on their feet” as they danced to the music.
