CRR Governor inaugurates 2 boreholes in Sami District

The Governor of Central River Region, Ousman Bah recently presided over the inauguration of a two new boreholes in Demfai and Raneru villages in Sami District.

The boreholes, funded by Corner Stone Construction Group, is meant to ease drudgery these communities face in accessing potable drinking water.                       

At the event, Governor Bah, reminded that the provision of these boreholes would significantly contribute to the development of beneficiary communities and reduce the burden on women.

He thanked Pa Jagne of President Barrow Media Empowerment, who he said, is the source of the project through his online advocacy. 

He called on the beneficiary communities to support President Barrow and his agenda, saying The Gambian leader has created an environment were sponsors, investors and donors are free to come into the country. 

Governor Bah also also thanked sponsors for complementing government’s efforts in the provision of drinking water.                               

For his part, Pa Jagne of the Barrow Media Empowerment, urged the beneficiary communities to make best use of the boreholes. 

He called on the two communities to vote for President Barrow in the next presidential election, arguing that the opposition has not done anything for them. 

Haruna Sinyan, alkalo of Raneru, acknowledged that his community has been without clean drinking water for over 50 years and thanked sponsors for the benevolence gesture. 

Koja Jobe, on behalf of Demfai women, lamented some of the challenges women in the community go through in accessing drinking water and that providing this new borehole would significantly reduce the burden on them especially in fetching water from deep wells. 

Abdoulie Cham, a representative of Corner Stone Construction Group, expressed similar sentiments, calling on other organisations to support his group in their bid to expand their assistance to other communities in need in the country.
