Crab Island Technical and Vocational Education Training Centre (CITVETC) recently took delivery of an assortment of computer accessories from the Unique Group Foundation at a brief presentation held at the Centre in Banjul.

Presenting the items on behalf of the CEO of the Unique Group Foundation, Mrs. Fatou Hughes Mahmoud, pointed out that the presentation should have been done earlier but it could not due to circumstances.

She expressed optimism that the donated items, which comprises UPS equipment and electric surge protectors, would be of good use to the IT programme of the TVET Centre.

Mrs. Mahmoud acknowledged that CEO Njie is very impressed with the Crab Island TVET Initiative and has plans to make more interventions in the future in supporting the work of the Foundation in skills development.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Board, Administration, Ousman Sillah, chairperson of Crab Island TVET Foundation (CITVETF), who also doubles as the Secretary General of the Abuja based Sub-Saharan Africa Skills and Apprenticeship Stakeholders Network (SASASNET), expressed profound appreciation for what he described as “a demonstration of the discharge of corporate social responsibility’ by the Unique Group Foundation.

Hon. Sillah described the donation as timely, as Crab Island TVET Centre is now expanding the courses it offers and these include the newly introduced Information Technology (IT) programme that starts this academic year.

The donated items, he added, are accessories that are much-needed by the Centre and will go a long way in enhancing the capacity of the Centre in its delivery of quality training.

“In fact, this intervention represents the first support from partners towards the efforts to equip the newly introduced IT Department of Crab Island TVET Centre,” noted the Board Chairperson.

He thus thanked Alhaji Papa Yusupha Njie, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Group that runs the Foundation, describing him as someone who has always been supportive to the institution since its inception.

Hon. Sillah also disclosed that the father of the CEO of Unique Group was the first person he contacted when the idea of coming up with the TVET initiative was mooted.

“Please extend my profound appreciation and sincere gratitude to Alh. Papa Yusupha Njie, the Unique Group Foundation, for this highly valued support to our shared objectives and efforts in contributing towards the building of manpower resources base of this country.”
