The families affected include Sanyang Kunda family in Jeshwang, whose apartment was entirely engulfed by inferno; Saho Kunda family in Old Yundum and one Fatou Darboe of Youna village.
Both the Sanyang Kunda and Saho Kunda families were each presented with cash of D8,000 including 2 bags of rice of 50kg; a 20-litter gallon of oil, 6 cartons of clothing and other items.
Fatou Darboe, whose house was also destroyed by the recent downpour was given a cash a sum of D40,100; 2 bags of rice, a 20-liter of oil, 2 mattresses, freezer and 6 boxes of clothing.
Expressing gratitude to the donor, Fatou Darboe, a beneficiary, lauded the MIS Foundation and its donors, for their invaluable support in uplifting her livelihood.
The cash, she said, will help her upgrade her business and to be able to feed her family.
Kalilu Sanyang, the landlord of Sanyang Kunda, another beneficiary, expressed similar sentiments.
He thanked the donors for the support, saying the fire outbreak had badly affected them as they lost almost every houseold item.
He also applauded the youth of the community for their timely response to help put off the fire before the arrival of the Fire and Rescue Services.
Hafigi Sisawo, the MIS Co-founder, revealed that the foundation which is constituted of alumni of the University of the Gambia in the MIS class was formed 3 years ago.
He revealed that they were approached about two months ago through their Facebook page that the families were in need for support.
The foundation, he added, immediately sent a delegation to assess the situation and that through their emergency fund membership mobilisation and their affiliate philanthropists, they were able to raise funds to respond to the victims.
He applauded all those who contributed to the success of the emergency fund raising, which he said, will have a great impact to the victims and the needy families.
Bai Sering Colley, chairman of the MIS foundation also expressed similar sentiments.
