The exercise mobilised scores of young people, community elders, and volunteers who came together to clean public spaces, restore the village’s environment, and reinforce the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining public hygiene.
Speaking during the exercise, Lamin Manjang, Vice Chairperson of the Basori Youth Development Committee, expressed deep appreciation to the Kombo East District Youth Committee for their collaboration and solidarity.
“We are profoundly grateful to KEDYC for partnering with us in this impactful initiative. Your support has strengthened our mission and highlighted the power of unity in achieving positive community transformation,” he remarked.
Mr. Manjang commended KEDYC for its consistent commitment to youth empowerment and grassroots development across Kombo East.
“Your unwavering dedication to amplifying youth voices and promoting meaningful participation in community building is commendable. Today’s partnership reflects your devotion to shaping a brighter future for our people,” he added.
He further hailed the leadership and inspiration that KEDYC continues to provide, noting that the spirit of partnership between the two committees will continue to yield lasting benefits for Basori and beyond.
On her part, Christine Mendy, Chairperson of the Kombo East District Youth Committee, expressed gratitude to BYDC for the collaboration and urged young people to take ownership of development efforts within their communities.
“Youth are not just leaders of tomorrow but of today. We must step forward, take responsibility, and play an active role in shaping the progress of our communities,” she encouraged.
Hon. Salifu Darboe, Youth Parliamentarian for Kombo East, who joined the exercise, praised both committees for their collaboration, describing it as a symbol of unity and progress among young people in the district. He reaffirmed his dedication to representing the voices of Kombo East youth at the National Youth Parliament.
Also speaking, Ebrima Ceesay, Chairperson of the Basori Village Development Committee, thanked the organisers for spearheading what he called a “timely and meaningful” initiative that promotes hygiene, health, and togetherness.
