The newly-elected executive is expected to contribute immensely to addressing health reports in the country, among issues, which need to be addressed.
It would be recalled that the Gambian media has been without a serious Health Journalists Association for more than a decade.
With the coming of this dynamic group of young people, the release stated that hopes are high that some of the problems facing health journalists will be addressed.
Speaking shortly after the election, Pa Modou Cham, newly elected president of the association, commended members of the association for the confidence reposed in him and his executive.
Mr Cham, who won The Gambia Press Union's Best Health Story Award 2022, equally commend all those present at the event.
“We value your presence and just to tell you that we have lots of partners that we will work with. This is just the beginning. We want to have the executive rolling because the problem is if we do not have this congress, then nobody is going to take us seriously. And we might not be able to go ahead and implement our activities for the members and the Association.” he said.
