Lamin Suso explained that he once loaned the council D570,000 for the payment of 1 by 6 salaries. When he was asked where he obtained the money, he said he got it from his friends.
Witness Suso was asked to mention the amount of money he received from each of his friends and he stated the amount.
However, after the figures were added, the amount obtained was less than the amount initially mentioned by the witness.
"The math did not add up," Deputy Lead Counsel Patrick Gomez said.
"It is not that the whole money was meant for the payment of 1 by 6," Lamin Suso said.
"Do not change your story. You are changing because your math did not add up,” Counsel Gomez said, further asking where the money was expended.
"The request was for personal reasons," Lamin Suso later responded.
"When you were trying to act smart saying the money was for the payment of 1 by 6, you think we will not get you. Are you maintaining that the money was for 1 by 6?" the deputy lead counsel asked.
"Yes, it was for 1 by 6," Lamin Suso said. He was asked to do the math based on the statement of account. He also did the calculation and arrived the same conclusion.
"The money was not for 1 by 6," Counsel Gomez said.
"Yes," the witness answered.
"How much was spent for 1 by 6?" Lawyer Gomez asked.
"Unless I go back to the records," Lamin Suso averred.
The witness was at one juncture asked by chairperson Jainaba Bah “Where did you derive authority to give council loan?"
The witness said he did so “in good faith”, adding that he used his discretion.
"That was not the question. Did the financial manual allow you to give the Council loan?" chairperson Bah asked.
"No," the witness answered.
