The event held at the school premises in Kombo South, forms an integral part of the school’s infrastructural expansion project, courtesy of Colley Foundation for Social and Environmental Justice and Sofie Cornelis in partnership with Sint-Jozef Instituut from Kontich in Belgium. Meanwhile, the contract was awarded to JJC Construction Company.
At the event, Bubacarr F.M. Colley of the Colley Foundation, lauded the collaborative effort of Sint-Jozef Instituut of Belgium and the Colley Foundation for Social and Environmental Justice.
He affirmed that the project is a laudable initiative that goes beyond politics, a project that directly impacts on the future of Nyofelleh.
Colley, who contested during the past 2022 parliamentary elections under the independent ticket and lost, recalled that he may not have made it to the house of parliament, but his dedication towards the development of his community continues.
“Let this project stand as a testament to the power of collaboration, transcending political boundaries for the collective welfare of our people.”
Also speaking, Abdoulie Barrow, who spoke on behalf of the Alkalo of Nyofelleh, thanked the Colley Foundation and its partners for the ‘laudable gesture.’
Morri Nyassi, chairman of Nyofelleh Village Development Committee (VDC), while anticipating for more projects in terms of infrastructure, acknowledged the efforts of their partners in the construction of additional blocks at the school.
He assured of his VDC’s continued cooperation with the school administration to ensure a strong and everlasting cooperation with their partners- Sint-Jozef Instituut of Belgium.
Kebba Jobarteh, Principal of Nyofellleh Upper Basic School, applauded the sponsors for their efforts, which he described, as a dream come true for the school.
Davina Somers, a teacher from the Sint-Jozef Instituut in Belgium, spoke about their fund-raising events organised in the past to support a worthy cause, saying they have been organising all kinds of activities to raise money for almost a year.
She revealed that the entire school was committed to the project and they have the belief that every child deserves to have quality education.
She noted that their mission is to make the construction of additional classrooms financially possible and commended Bubacarr Colley, their partner, for the steadfastness.
Maddie East, a student of Sint-Jozef Instituut, also expressed similar sentiment, indicating that she was selected together with 11 students for the phenomenal project.
She thus thanked the school administration and the community for their warm welcome.
