CUBE The Gambia has launched a pilot program introducing its locally developed AI-powered learning platform, the CUBE AI Tutor, to secondary school students in Region 1.

The pilot launch, conducted on April 30 and May 6, 2026, engaged one hundred and fifty (150) students from St. Augustine’s Senior Secondary School, St. Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, and Charles Jow Memorial Academy. The sessions were held at St. Augustine’s and Charles Jow, where students were introduced to the platform and guided on how to use it to support their learning.

The CUBE AI Tutor is a curriculum-aligned digital learning platform designed to help students understand lessons through simple explanations, quizzes, and guided problem-solving. The app is built to work offline, without data, and offers text-to-speech and speech-to-text functions to support different learning needs.

Speaking on the initiative, Joanna Gomez, Development and Communications Manager at CUBE The Gambia, said the pilot is an important step in testing a locally built solution in real classroom settings.

During the sessions, students completed a pre-assessment, and onboarded onto the platform. ICT teachers from each school supported coordination of the pilot, and students were instructed to use the app consistently over a two-month period and provide feedback to help improve the platform.

The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, with participating schools providing coordination and access to students.

CUBE The Gambia is a youth-led organisation focused on expanding access to STEAM education through practical learning programs and digital tools.

The pilot marks a step toward developing and refining local education technology solutions aimed at improving learning outcomes for students in The Gambia.
