Brikama Islamic School gets furniture worth €5,000

Brikama Nyabo Kaffo, an Islamic school over the weekend took delivery of ninety (90) new tables and chairs from the International Humanitarian Relief Organization (IHHNL), a Turkish Muslim organisation based in Netherlands.

 

The donated items which included, furniture are worth five thousand euros, which is equivalent to over three hundred and twenty thousand dalasi (D320,000).

However, the donation came through Cemiyatul Hyre Relief Organization CHRO – Gambia office. 

Presenting the items at a ceremony held at the school ground in Brikama, Musa Jallow, CHRO –Gambia country director, disclosed that the donated furniture were fully sponsored by IHHNL based in the Netherlands. 

The Turkish Muslim Organisation, he said, has been supporting numerous projects in The Gambia over the years.  

Jallow disclosed that since 2011, the relationship between IHHNL and CHRO-Gambia office has been very cordial, saying based on relationship, a lot of projects have been successfully executed in The Gambia by IHHNL in partnership with CHRO-Gambia office. 

“It was through this partnership that IHHNL decided to provide these 90 new tables and chairs within three weeks for Brikama Nyabo Kaffo through CHRO-Gambia office to ensure a conducive learning for the school children.”

According to him, Brikama Nyabo Kaffo is one of the most successfully projects intervention by IHHNL based in Netherlands. 

He dwelled on some of numerous projects undertaking by the Netherlands based group, which he added, ranges from sponsoring over (200) orphanages, providing allowance and  clothing’s to other interventions areas.

Receiving the items, Abubacarr Camara, principal of Brikama Nyabo Kaffo, expressed delight in receiving the much-needed items for the school.

He described the gesture as ‘timely’ and something that would create a conducive learning atmosphere for the pupils of the school.

 Mustapha Sonko, board chairman of the School Development Committee expressed similar sentiments. 

He equally advised the school authorities to ensure proper maintenance of the items to ensure its sustainability.

Sonko extends special commendation to the donors and CHRO-Gambia country office for making the donation a dream come true. 

The presentation was graced by Imam Alhagie Seedy Mutarr Jabbi Gassama of Pirang and cross-section of the community of Brikama.
