Speaking to The Point newspaper on Sunday, Bah highlighted that the initiative’s first phase will benefit one man, one woman and one youth from the constituency.
The Banjul MP described the initiative as a milestone achievement in his ongoing efforts to enhance community healthcare services.
“Together, we can foster positive change in our healthcare system and improve services for our people. We will continue to expand this support.”
The program stems from extensive research conducted by Bah and his team to assess the healthcare challenges in Banjul North. During the research, they’ve discovered that many residents struggle to access and afford essential medications when visiting hospitals. Also, the research findings revealed a high prevalence of diabetes and hypertension, with many unable to afford treatment. This reality reinforced his commitment to ensuring that vulnerable individuals receive the medical care they need.
“These are the people who need our support the most,” he highlighted, further expressing his ambition to expand the initiative further with additional resources.
Bah was also inspired by a previous collaboration with Innovarx Global Health The Gambia, where 343 residents in his constituency received free preventative health screenings.
While encouraging fellow leaders to take similar action, MP Bah urged all to implement such initiatives in their constituencies, stressing the collective responsibility to improve healthcare for all Gambians.
