Speaking with The Point, Hon. Bah described the initiative as significant in giving back to the community, especially in the Holy month of Ramadan.
He indicated that it is not about the food being served, but another avenue to network foster unity.
"Representation is not only about being in parliament and advocate about things, but it is how best you represent your people in trying to address their needs and concerns," he stated.
He added; “It is significant to come back to the grassroots level and share thoughts with them. This is one of the ways that I am trying to see how best I can connect more with my people to discuss some of the things I should be able to take back to the parliament on their behalf so that it can be addressed.”
The Banjul North lawmaker described parliament as the solution house.
Also speaking, Imam Foday Kabba Dumbuya, emphasised that giving out ‘Iftar’ is in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad Peace be Upon him (PUBH), saying the reward one gets in returns is enormous.
He thus applauded Banjul North MP for giving back to his community.
Mustapha Ceesay of Bilal Mosque, expressed similar sentiments, noting that the initiative touches the hearts of residents, especially those in need.
Abdoulie Krubally, a resident of Tabaco Road, who serves as the Youth Councilor at the Banjul City Council, underscored the importance of the initiative, which he said, is of great significance in bringing people together.
Similarly, the Banjul North MP has extended magnanimity to needy households with the presentation of Ramadan food package to 57 deserving families comprising women, orphans, elderly and persons with disabilities within Banjul North Constituency and beyond.
The presentation held last Sunday 22nd February at the Tabacco Road Central Mosque, witnessed the distribution of 36 bags of 50kg rice and 21 bags 50kg sugar among 57 beneficiaries.
At the event, Bah maintained that the initiative forms part of his commitment in giving back to his community.
"This selfless act of generosity is a testament to the values of compassion and empathy that define us as a community. We're grateful to make a difference in the lives of others. To the beneficiaries, we hope this gesture brings you joy, comfort, and a deeper sense of community. Ramadan Mubarak," he added.
