The ceremony also marked the recognition of the graduating students of form 5 for their outstanding academic performance.
Clement Ebunoha, head of Apple Tree International High School, said the move was a combination of hard work towards the actualisation of their goals to attain such success.
Ebunoha told the graduating class to always be good ambassadors of the school by nurturing the discipline instilled in them, saying they should also utilise the opportunity to earn them entries into renowned universities across the world.
Dr Ismaila Ceesay, head of Political Science Department at the University of The Gambia (UTG), said the students should differentiate between being schooled and being educated, noting that one can go to school without being educated.
"Those who are not educated are the most dangerous people in the society. Most of the students were empty when they newly enrolled at the school but they now have something to take home as they are leaving with knowledge."
Dr Ceesay also reminded the graduating students that education doesn't end at form 5, further stating that for a great world, each new experience and new day serves as a fountain of knowledge.
Ceesay, who is also the secretary general of Citizen Alliance political party, maintained that knowledge is what one uses to build a great generation.
“This generation must be equipped otherwise the next will fail. It takes one generation to change the fortune of the other generation.” he stated.
Ceesay also reminded them that it takes hard work, dedication, discipline, humility, honesty and integrity to reach the stars and succeed.
He called on graduating students to see and exploit any existing opportunities that come their way and to always remember that every challenge is an opportunity to succeed.
Alex Baio, outgoing head boy, emphasised that they have not only gained knowledge from the school but it also enabled them to be great citizens..
