The fully loaded container is meant for schools and students under their sponsorship. The charity is currently sponsoring 280 students from Nursery School to Senior Secondary Schools within the Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region respectively.
According to the chairman of the Belgian Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG), Patrick de Voss, the items in the container are educational, health and agricultural items.
Mr De Voss said his team members include experts in the fields of nursing, IT and teaching, retired civil workers, among others.
“During our two weeks stay in the country, we will distribute packages to our sponsored students and inspect our schools projects,” he also said.
In West Coast Region, the charity is sponsoring students in Jambangjelly Nursery, Lower Basic and Upper Basic Schools, Siffoe Lower and Upper Basic Schools, New Yundum Lower Basic School and New Yundum Health Center.
In Kanifing Municipality, there is sponsoring students in Bakoteh Senior Secondary School, Bakoteh Annex Lower Basic School, Bakoteh Proper Lower Basic School, Nyodema Nursery School, Latri-kunda Upper Basic School and St. Therese’s Lower Basic School.
Mr De Vos assured of his organization’s readiness to continue helping Gambian children in order to ensure they have meaningful futures as well as prepare them to become responsible leaders.
