Turo Darboe renews commitment to join political race by April

Gambian philanthropist and businessman Modou Turo Darboe has reaffirmed his intention to join politics in April 2026. Darboe, who has supported various communities for over 30 years, made the announcement at an event where he was adopted as an honorary father by four women's groups in Tallinding.

He didn't disclose which party he would join or the position he would contest, but emphasized he was ready and committed to the political race. Darboe also criticized some politicians, urging Gambians to be cautious of divide-and-rule tactics and claiming he's prepared to expose those who challenge him. He donated 30 solar street lights to the Tallinding community.

During his speech, Darboe expressed willingness and confidence to join the Gambian political scene in April, without revealing which party or position he would pursue. He told the women of Tallinding he was ready to enter the political arena by April 2026, with no turning back.
