In his testimony, Officer Sambou explained that he became aware of the accused, Abdoulie Sanyang, through a video interview conducted by journalist Peter Gomez. He added that Mr Jawara, Commissioner of the Serious Crime Unit (SIU), instructed him to extract the video as part of the investigation.
When asked whether he knew the purpose of the footage, the witness responded that he was informed it was intended for the investigation of Abdoulie Sanyang.
Describing the process of extraction, Officer Sambou stated that he accessed Peter Gomez’s YouTube channel and downloaded the full interview, which was divided into three separate parts.
Regarding the equipment used, the witness confirmed that he utilised a HP laptop with 16GB RAM, which he described as an official device used solely for work purposes. He emphasised that the laptop had not suffered any damage and remained fully functional.
When asked what he did after storing the video on his computer, Officer Sambou explained that he transferred the files to a USB flash drive provided by his office. He described the flash drive’s physical characteristics and confirmed that it contained only the three video segments, with no additional content.
The Prosecution Counsel, S.L. Jorbateh, applied to have the video admitted into the case record for identification purposes. The application was granted, and the first part of the interview was played in open court.
The prosecution further applied for the video to be played in fast-forward mode. However, Defence Counsel Lamin J. Darboe objected, arguing that the defence was also interested in the interview and requested that it be played in its original form. The objection was upheld, and the video was played at normal speed.
The first part of the interview was played during the current session. Parts two and three are scheduled to be played on the next adjourned date, 10 November 2025, during the continuation of Prosecution Witness 4 (PW4) testimony.
