Police investigate alleged murder incident at Brusubi Phase II

Brusubi Police have launched an investigation into an alleged murder incident that occurred on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Brusubi Phase II. The victim is Saikou Freeman, a Liberian national, and the suspect is Muhammed Ali Jallow, a Sierra Leonean national.

Preliminary investigations revealed that both men, who worked at the same construction site, were involved in a dispute over a D100 debt. The confrontation escalated, leading to the suspect allegedly inflicting a fatal injury on the victim.

Workers at the site restrained the suspect and promptly alerted the police. The victim was transported to the Sukuta Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

While the public is strongly urged to report disputes early to prevent escalation into violence, the GPF remains committed to ensuring that justice is pursued without delay.

Police investigate breaking and stealing of Nawec transformer in Brikama Jamisa

In a separate development, Suba Ward Police have arrested Bubacarr Jallow of Jalambang Village, an adult male, in connection with a reported case of Breaking and Stealing involving a NAWEC transformer installed at Brikama Jamisa. The stolen items, four (4) pieces of 415 transformers and four (4) metres of 4×8mm cable, have been fully recovered.

 

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect attempted to dispose of the stolen items at a location before police intervention. Investigators are following additional leads to establish whether the suspect is linked to a broader network targeting NAWEC installations and other public infrastructure.

 

The Gambia Police Force issues a strong warning to individuals involved in the theft, vandalism, or sabotage of national infrastructure, especially electricity installations critical to public safety and economic activity. Such acts pose a serious threat to communities and will attract the full weight of the law.
