The signing ceremony, held on Tuesday, 11 February 2024, at the NCAC Annex along Kairaba Avenue, marks the beginning of an exciting cultural showcase. This monumental event will highlight the rich diversity and artistic heritage of Gambia, bringing together vibrant performances, visual arts, and cultural expressions that reflect the spirit and history of the Gambian people.
In an exclusive interview, Hassoum Ceesay, director general of NCAC, shared that the National Organising Committee has tasked the centre with overseeing the artistic components of the celebrations, including musical jamborees, cultural receptions, and state banquets. Alongside the artistes, live bands, top technicians, managers, choreographers, and producers will ensure that the event is produced to the highest standards.
The Diamond Jubilee festivities will feature a musical jamboree at Arch 22 on 18th February, with performances from young and veteran artists like Nyacho, ST, Jizzle, Jaliba, and so on. The celebrations will also include a major Fine Art Exhibition, featuring works from 25 prominent Gambian artists, the largest in the country's history.
Meanwhile, a book exhibition will be held at a later date. The exhibition will take place at the National Museum on Independence Drive. This cultural bonanza invites the public to celebrate Gambia's 60 years of independence through art, music, and performance.
