Mayor Lowe honoured as champion of Gambian women 2025

Raise the Young Foundation, a leading youth organisation in the country, has recognised Roheyatou Malick Lowe, the mayor of the Banjul City BCC), (as the Gambian Women Champion of 2025.

This latest prestigious award highlights her exceptional contributions and leadership in advancing and empowering Gambian women.

The Bakau Youth Organisation, in a letter addressed to the BCC Mayor and obtained by The Point, stated: “We are thrilled to announce that you have been selected to receive the Gambian Women Champions 2025 award. This honor recognizes your exceptional contributions to advancing gender equality and empowering women throughout The Gambia.”

“In celebration of International Women's Day 2025, this prestigious award will be officially handed over to you in your office in Banjul on 27th March 2025. Your dedication and impact have inspired many, and we are honored to acknowledge your achievements on this special occasion.”

This latest accolade is part of a remarkable series of national and international awards that Mayor Lowe continues to receive from both Gambians and global organisations. These honours acknowledge her significant contributions to improving the lives and livelihoods of Gambian women, particularly those in need.
