Alhagie Mamadi Kurang, one of the young politicians and a member of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has asserted there is panic at the State House, arguing that the tours by the President manifests nothing less.

The former secretary of the defunct Janneh Commission of Inquiry made the statement ahead of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the UDP-led Gambia First Coalition (GFC) leaders on Friday.

Mr Kurang said: "But I know why the President is going on a tour now. There is panic in State House. You know, when the UDP did that big tour in December, the President said he is going to do five, seven tours. Now he goes every week tour. Every week, he is doing a tour and he is panicking."

Mr Kurang said even when the President is in Kiang on his tour, he is still thinking about them in Serrekunda.

"President, the campaign has not even started yet. We don't start yet. You wait till October and November, and see what is going to happen in this country. The Gambians are wary. The economic hardship that is happening and the darkness that we are paying for at NAWEC; the price of rice is high. The cost of living is going up every day."

Kurang capped his statement with unusual confidence, saying that the "people are ready to bring him down in December".
