IEC registers 987,484 ahead of Dec. polls

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has announced that 987,484 Gambians have registered for the 2021 Presidential Election slated for 4 December.

At least 559,996 females have registered, while 427,488 have registered as males.

The general registration of voters started on 29th May 2021 across the country and ended on 11 July 2021.

“The IEC hereby informs the general public that the provisional lists of voters shall be displayed at the various registration centers where they were compiled for ten days which shall be announced in due course.”

“The display of the lists of the voters shall be followed by the establishment of the revising courts to decide on the objections and appeals on provisional lists,” Commission added.

“The IEC wishes to thank the government of the Gambia, political parties, development partners, civil society organisations, the media houses and the Gambian public for their support and participation in the successful completion of the general registration  of voters which started on 29th May 2021 and ended 11th July  2021.”
