The Management of Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) and stakeholders of Muslim Senior Secondary School (MSSS) have concluded a negotiation arrangement for the relocation of the school to Brusubi Phase 2 at the final meeting marking the signing of Settlement Agreement held on Tuesday 19 July, 2022, in Banjul.

The stakeholders at the meeting were the School Management, Banjul Committee of Muslim Elders, Banjul Muslim Association and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE).

The Settlement Agreement was signed by GPA Managing Director Ousman M. Jobarteh and Babou Mbye, the chairperson of the Board of Governors of Muslim Senior Secondary School and witnessed by Adama Jimba Jobe, deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

Speaking at the end of the meeting, GPA MD Ousman Jobarteh thanked all the stakeholders for their acceptance to relocate the school and cede the property to the GPA for port expansion. MD Jobarteh said that spoke volumes of the stakeholders’ patriotism as the port expansion project is in the best interest of The Gambia.

On behalf of the school authorities, Board Chair Babou Mbye, hailed GPA Management for the elaborate and progressive engagements that resulted in the agreement to relocate the school to a whole new environment. He expressed optimism that with this arrangement in place, the school would work towards regaining its lost glory and build on the gains registered.

Other speakers included the principal of Muslim SSS, Lamin K. Marong and DPS Adama Jimba Jobe, who echoed similar sentiments, noting that the school at its new location would continue to serve its quota to nation building.

Officials from all parties also expressed appreciation to the President of the Republic, Adama Barrow for the continued support and advice for the possible relocation of the school, his alma mater.
