Recipient of the award on behalf of the Chief Medical Director of the EFSTH, Dr Cherno Jallow described the donation as timely, adding that it comes at a time the hospital is continually challenged with power efficiency. “This donation is timely and is needed. It will benefit us greatly, our patients and the country at large,” he stated. He further stressed on the Port’s continued support towards the Edward Francis Small Teaching hospital, highlighting the Port’s intervention in supporting the Hospital’s specialist overseas training.
He however added the hospital still looks forward to more support, citing recent infrastructural improvements, calling for broader assistance in advancing the cause. He pledged to ensuring proper management and efficient preservation of the machine, safeguarding its endured utility and service to the hospital.
“We will ensure we have continuous preventative maintenance to make sure the machine is kept in shape and operational,” he said.
Acting board-chairperson of the EFSTH, Lamin F. Jawara, also lauded the Port’s cooperate social responsibility, adding that almost every Gambian is a beneficiary to their corporate social service.
He added the donation will boost the maintenance of efficient health care and improve service delivery at the hospital.
