The Chief Executive Officer of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GiEPA) Ousainou Senghore, has been elected as the new Vice President of the Economic   Community   of   West   African States (ECOWAS) Trade Promotion Organizations (TPO) Network.

The event, held at Guinea Bissau from the 5th to 6th July 2023, attracted the 15 ECOWAS member countries to participate in the third annual general meeting of the Network since its establishment by the Council of Ministers on 17 June 2021 at their 86th Ordinary Session.

Mr Senghore, till his election, remains the leader of the Technical Committee in charge of Finance and Resource Mobilisation for the past three consecutive years.

The ECOWAS TPO Network is a public-sector led entity mandated to work in partnership with the ECOWAS commission to drive inclusive trade development initiatives within West Africa and beyond. The network looks into the importance of Trade Promotion Organisations in accessing new markets and establishing linkages between local and international businesses.  If soundly operationalised, this new mechanism of TPO Network should help a great deal in boosting trade among ECOWAS member states, boost and deepen economic integration in the sub- region.
