This urgency led the school authority to organise a fundraising Islamic conference aimed at addressing the pressing need for additional classrooms at the school. These three additional classrooms are set to enable the school to enroll the growing and incoming students for the upcoming academic year.
The conference was organised by MYEAS at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Center in Bijilo, under the themes: ‘The significance of spending in the cause of Islam’ and ‘the importance of Islamised education’.
Speaking at the occasion, Hajja Maimuna Yadalieu Savage, the proprietress of MYEAS, thanked President Adama Barrow and his government for all the support and encouragement given to her.
She noted that she and her family have been benefiting from the human assistance from all people which enabled them to grow from strength to strength.
“I want to take this opportunity to call on all good Muslims to kindly support us in kind or cash to enable us achieve this struggle which is to construct three additional classrooms to cater for the admissions of both Lower and Upper Basic schools,” she appealed.
For his part, Baboucarr O. Joof, the minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment who spoke on behalf of President Adama Barrow, encouraged all Muslims to render support to this noble cause. He added that this initiative will contribute to the government's efforts aimed at improving literacy levels in The Gambia.
“I invite all of you Muslims, irrespective of your nationality, race, gender or ethnicity, to join hands and hearts in supporting this noble mission aimed at building more classrooms which undoubtedly will translate to ‘sadakhartul jaariya’.
Joof described the fundraising Islamic conference as an opportunity to practice Islamic faith and embody the spirit of sharing.
“By contributing towards building more classrooms, you are investing in the success of future generations, and your benevolence will shine as a beacon of hope for those who are less fortunate. Your donations will lay the foundation for a future filled with educated individuals who will go on to become inspirational leaders, professionals, within society.”
Mrs. Kodu Jabang-Senghore, who represented Vice President Muhammed B.S. Jallow also spoke on the occasion. Other speakers included Imam Alhagie Ousman Jah and Dr. Cherno Barry who both spoke on the themes.
