Adeline Davies, a resident of Banjul, is appealing to the government for assistance in recovering her late father’s properties and assets in Nigeria.

After a 21-year battle, she continues to seek justice for what she claimed is the wrongful seizure of her father’s wealth, which includes substantial funds, landed properties, and valuable belongings.

Adeline Davies, daughter of the late lawyer L.V. Davies, has called on the Gambian government to support her efforts to reclaim her father’s properties and assets in Nigeria.

According to documents obtained by The Point, Ms. Davies has been struggling for over two decades to access her father’s accounts and properties, with little to no success.

A document from Barclays Bank, dated May 21, 2003, shows that her late father held the following balances in the UK: £5,968.79 in a current account (Account No. 10727288) and £17,520.57 in an offshore instant savings account (Account No. 30362298). Despite these documented funds, the family has neither received any communication from the bank nor been able to access the accounts.

In addition to the financial assets, Ms Davies’ father owned two pieces of land in Nigeria, which the family has been unable to claim. Further documents reveal that Ms Davies has written to the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting their intervention in recovering her father’s belongings, including five cases of law books, household items, two private vehicles, and his residence in Lagos. However, her appeals have gone unanswered.
