Passport DC runs from May 1 through 31 and offers an outstanding array of cultural activities presented at embassy open houses, street festivals, performing arts venues, museums and special receptions throughout the District.
Events DC’s Around the World Embassy Tour and Passport DC attract nearly 27,000 attendees each year and allow the diplomatic community to highlight the very best of their home countries.
“I feel great. This is an opportunity for The Gambia to participate in this programme known as Passport DC,” Ambassador Momodou Lamin Bah says in an interview, adding it’s the most diverse event hosted by Washington D.C.
“We have so many embassies present here in Washington D.C., and we call the programme Passport DC so that we bring the embassies together to showcase cultural diversity.”
“You know they bring their culture and traditions to the doorsteps of Washington so that everybody can come under the same umbrella and have their culture and cultural diversity showcased. I think this is the second time we are participating as an embassy,” Mr. Bah recalled, adding that invitation had been extended to Banjul as it’s opportunity for cultural diversification and tourism back home.
