The driver, Malick Badjie, was charged with one count of Reckless and Negligent Act contrary to Section 190 of the Criminal Offence Act, 2025, after recklessly drifting his vehicle within a school zone and striking a Grade 9 student, Abdourahman Bah, who sustained critical injuries. Although Abdourahman’s legs were not amputated, he underwent surgery and is currently responding to treatment at the hospital.
Malick Badjie was arraigned today, July 22, 2025, before Your Worship Magistrate Dibba at the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded guilty to the charge. The police prosecutor presented the facts of the case, and the court adjourned the matter to Thursday, July 24, 2025, for the presentation of the victim’s medical report and sentencing.
The accused has been remanded at Mile 2 Central Prisons pending the next court hearing.
