DLEAG arrests 5 suspects with suspected shunk, Moroccan hashish

Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG), have arrested five suspects with suspected cannabis ruderalis (skunk), Moroccan hashish, Ecstasy (GAW-GAW) and cannabis sativa, The Point has been reliably informed.  

The suspects are currently under the custody of the country’s narcotic agency as investigation into the matter continues.

The spokesperson of the agency, Ousman Saidybah, who was contacted for comments, confirmed the development, saying: “Four of the suspects are Gambians and one of them a Senegalese. Equally, three of them are male while the other two are females.”

“The 27-year-old Dawda Faye of Brusubi was apprehended on the 31 July 2022 around 23:45 hours GMT at Fajara around Envy Nightclub with 12 big wraps and some quantities of suspected skunk and 51 tablets of suspected ecstasy commonly referred to as GAW– GAW.”

Saidybah added: “The 41-year-old Abu Khan was arrested at Bakau on the 29 July 2022 around 20:10 hours GMT onwards with 56 pieces of suspected skunk, 14 pieces of Moroccan hashish and five parcels and some quantities of suspected cannabis sativa.”

“Again, 36-year-old Dembo Bojang, a Senegalese residing at Baipal village in Cassamance was arrested at Mandinaba Police checkpoint on the 30 July 2022 around 07:20 hours GMT onwards with two big bundles of suspected cannabis sativa concealed in a black suitcase.”

The DLEAG PRO further said: “57 years old Kumba Bangura, and 27-year-old Kaddyjatou Camara were arrested with 15 wraps of suspected cannabis sativa on the 29 July 2022 around 21:15 hours GMT onwards at Sare Alpha in the Upper River Region.”
