Diabugu ‘Secco’ president dies in car crash

Tara Bah, the groundnut "Secco" president at Diabugu in the Sandu District of the Upper River Region (URR), reportedly has died in a car accident around Jarra Soma, The Point has been reliably informed.

The accident occoured on Friday 19 January while the vehicle was heading to Kombo. Bah was later pronounced dead at the Jarra Soma Hospital.

A source who is familiar with the development, said: "The other passengers who were on the seven-seater vehicle sustained injuries and were later rushed to the Jarra Soma Hospital for medical attention."

Yahya Nyangado, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of Gambia Groundnut Corporation (GGC), who was contacted for comments, confirmed the development.

He expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, saying: "Tara Bah was an easygoing man who had committed to working with GGC. His death has shocked the entire management of the corporation."

Mr Nyangado, who said the deceased was travelling to Kombo for a meeting, added: "Our managing director together with other senior management team has even visited those that are hospitalised."
