Bus attack in Senegal kills 2

The bus belonging to AFTU was Tuesday attacked in Yarakh, Dakar, by unidentified men armed with molotov cocktail killing two people, according to reports monitored in Senegal.
Molotov cocktail is a crude bomb made of a bottle filled with a flammable liquid.

The attack, branded as terrorist was carried by 7 unidentified people who were masked with cutlasses with molotov cocktails. 

According to reports, this bus line 65 provided the Kounoune-Colobane service. The molotov cocktail incident was targeting passengers.

“The minister of the Interior, Mr. Antoine Félix Abdoulaye DIOME, went to Yarakh after the terrorist attack perpetrated against a TATA AFTU bus on line 65, this Tuesday August 1, 2023. Unidentified individuals set fire to the bus carrying passengers. The provisional toll is 2 dead bodies and 5 people seriously burned. The defence and security forces are mobilised to find the perpetrators of this criminal act,” according to the Ministry

Previously, Dakar and Ziguinchor have been marred by incidents since Friday, July 28, after the arrest of political opponent Ousmane Sonko, who was finally placed under a warrant of committal on Monday by the dean of judges at the end of his hearing.

Monday, July 31, the Ministry of the Interior announced the death of two young demonstrators in Ziguinchor (South). The Minister of the Interior says he has been informed of the “discovery of two lifeless male bodies, this Monday, July 31, 2023, during demonstrations in Ziguinchor.”
