British lady murder trial, witness discloses discovering money, pistol, keys, documents in a hole

The second prosecution witness in the alleged murder case of a British lady said before Justice. E. Jaiteh that a team of investigators were directed by the accused to his house in Sukuta where they discovered bunch of keys, money, documents and a hand pistol.

The witness Landing Nasso, a police officer attached to Tujereng Police station disclosed that they discovered an amount of D80, 000 and a hand pistol in the house of the accused.

He also disclosed that the accused led the team of investigators 15 meters away from his house where he buried bunch of keys, Gambian Driving License, Gambia Alien Identity Cards and some other documents.

The deceased Sakina Chinedu, a 60-year-old Briton, was residing in The Gambia since 2017 and was allegedly killed by one Augustine Bangura on 14 February 2024 at Sinchang Village.

The witness said photographs were taken by the Criminal Records officers who were within their team. When asked how he knew the accused, the witness said he recognized him in Brikama Police Station at the CID office which he said was the divisional headquarters of the Tujereng Police Station where he, the witness was stationed.

He explained that the accused was brought to the station for an alleged murder crime, adding that his involvement in the case came as he was in charge of the Tujereng Police Station and he led the team of investigation.

He said his role was when the matter was reported at his office as the officer in charge of a missing person on the 16 February 2024, he visited the scene where the deceased was later discovered and was buried in septic tank on a construction.

The case is to proceed today.
