Boy, 14, reported dead during  teen wrestling

Aschool going boy, 14, was reported dead during a teen wrestling in the North Bank Region (NBR), The Point has been reliably informed. 

 

 

The incident was reported to have occurred on Friday 27 November 2021 at the village school ground.

“I can confirm to you that the incident happened in one of the villages in the NBR. The suspect who’s also a 15-year-old was yesterday brought to the Farafenni Police Station as police investigate the matter,” a source who is familiar with the matter said.

Sup. Lamin Njie, spokesperson of The Gambia Police Force (GPF) who was contacted for comments, confirmed the development, saying: “We can confirm the incident happened in one of the villages of the NBR involving two students.”

Narrating how the incident happened, PRO Njie said: “The 14-year-old boy was wrestling with the 15-year-old boy. Unfortunately, the 14-year-old was wrestled to the ground. The teenager couldn’t get up from the ground after he was wrestled by the suspect. He was picked up from the ground and rushed to a nearby health center where he was pronounced dead,” he posited, claiming that investigations into the matter are on-going.
