African Chief Justices’ Summit nominates CJ Jallow as vice chair

The Honorable Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow, accompanied by Hon. Justice Omar Cham of the High Court, represented The Gambia at the African Chief Justices’ International Commercial Arbitration Summit held at Pepperdine University’s Château d’Hauteville in Switzerland

The conclave witnessed Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow being nominated as Vice Chair of the African Chief Justices Forum.

Organised by the Pepperdine University Caruso School of Law and endorsed by the Sudreau Global Justice Institute and the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, the summit brought together Chief Justices and senior judicial officers from across Africa to explore the evolving landscape of international commercial arbitration. The week-long engagement focused on strengthening judicial cooperation, enhancing dispute resolution mechanisms, and fostering legal innovation across borders.

During the summit, Hon. Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow was nominated as Vice Chair of the African Chief Justices Forum, an esteemed continental platform that promotes judicial dialogue, collaboration, and reform. His appointment reflects the growing recognition of The Gambia’s leadership in advancing judicial integrity and innovation across Africa.

The participation of The Gambia’s delegation reflects the Judiciary’s ongoing commitment to global legal excellence, institutional development, and the peaceful resolution of commercial disputes. It also underscores the importance of equipping judicial leaders with the tools and networks needed to navigate complex transnational legal challenges. A certificate of completion was conferred by Pepperdine University in recognition of this week-long engagement.
