Malang Jassey, director of sport at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, yesterday presided over the inauguration of a six-man Taskforce Committee mandated to look into the affairs of football in the country.
The committee comprises Abdul Aziz Titao Mendy, authorised to serve as the secretary to the committee; UK-based Gambian journalist Musa Ceesay, a member; Kabba Ceesay, a member; Ebou Faye, secretary-general of Banjul Sports Committee, a member; Arate Njie, a member, and Omar Sallah, chair of the committee.
In his inaugural speech, Malang Jassey, director of Youth and Sports, said the taskforce committee is set up to promote and develop football in the country. “The committee will also look into the affairs of the national football teams,” he said.
He thanked members of the committee for accepting their new positions and assured them of the youth and sports ministry’s readiness to working closely with them to attain excellence in football.
Taskforce committee chairman Omar Sallah expressed delight for being chosen to serve as a member of the committee that will look into development aspects of football in country.
He also used the occasion to call on the general public to give them the necessary support in their quest to achieve excellence in football.
