Following their recent promotion to the First Division, the Head Coach of Young Africans, Alagie Amat Cham, is delighted at the side's promotion, linking it to the player’s dedication, hard work and commitment during the league.
He commended the management of the club and fans for their support during the league. He assured that they would continue to aim higher in the next First Division.
According to Coach Cham, they will prepare very well for the forthcoming GFA Premier League Championship. He pointed out that part of his challenge together with the technical team, is to ensure that the team stays in the top flight.
Young Africans gained promotion to the Gambia Football Association (GFA) premier tier, following Saturday's 3-1 over Nema United. They collected 29 points, their closest rivals Banjul United lost to the current Second Division league champions Africell FC 1-0, at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium who collected 35 points.
Serrekunda United and Flamemins were relegated to the First Division after their 0-0 draw. Both sides collected 19 points from eighteen games.
Tallinding United suffered a 2-1defeat in the hands of Lamin FC at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium. Lamin FC collected 25 points, while Tallinding United collected 23 points from eighteen games.
Latrikunda United draw 0-0 with Serrekunda East in other Week Eighteen fixtures at the Box Bar Mini-stadium in Brikama. Latrikunda United collected 21 points from eighteen games, while Serrekunda East collected 22 points.
