Yavuz Selim Anatolian recently held its second annual school Fair Day at the school’s ground along MDI Road, Kanifing.
Yavuz Selim is an international private school in The Gambia that provides quality education for children attending Nursery, Primary and Upper Basic Schools.
The annual science and mathematics Fair Day was attended by students drawn from both private and public schools to demonstrate to the people what they have learnt in school.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the ceremony, Sheriff Yunus, the Project Manager at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School, said “this is a good step in developing science and mathematics in schools.”
He added that the introduction of the technology in schools is in line with the education policy and then thanked the school management for taking the initiative.
Nusret Celik, the Principal of the school, said the move is important for the students, especially those who take two subjects.
He noted that there is a need for a good science foundation for the students to give them more courage to take on science and mathematics related subjects in the near future.
He added that come 2013 or 2014 academic year, the school will have a project, called Olympiad competition for the two subjects.
Mr. Celik, therefore, thanked the senior education officials who represented the Ministry of Basic and Secondary School at the ceremony.
