Yarambamba on Sunday defeated knock-out champions Chimo United on penalties, after a 2-all draw in regulation time in the 2014 Brikama knock-out match played at the Brikama Box Bar mini stadium.
The win has guaranteed the New Yundum outfit, Yarambamba, a place in the next round in Brikama’s knock-out competition, and raised their hopes of clinching their first-ever trophy in Brikama.
The defeat threw the knock-out champions Chimo United out of the knock-out and league competitions, after their dismal performance.
Knock-out champions Chimo United will be playing in the qualifiers after their demotion in the championship, and will be expecting to win and return to the Nawettan proper.
It would be recalled that Chimo United clinched the 2014 Brikama knock-out and Super Cup titles after their astonishing performance in the summer football championship.
