Yaram Arts & Sports donates England jerseys

Yaram Arts and Sports yesterday donated 800 England jerseys to football teams, schools and associations across the country at a ceremony held at the conference hall of St Augustine's Senior Secondary School in Banjul.

The beneficiaries included Eliminite FC, Fire House FC, Banjul United FC, Saul Samba FC, Serrekunda West, Serrekunda East, Sukuta Champions Sounds, Brikama United FC, Wellingara Yaram, Selection United, St Augustine's Senior Secondary School, and Gambia High School.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the deputy director at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Sutay Jawo, applauded the donors for their "timely intervention".

He told the gathering that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is proud of Yaram Arts and Sports Foundation for their support to various football teams across the country.

The acting executive secretary of the National Sports Council, Abdul Aziz Titawo Mendy, says the responsibility of every citizen is to contribute his quota to the development of his country.

He thanked Yaram Arts and Sports for the donation.

For his part, the director of Yaram Arts and Sports, Malick Jeng, said the value of the items donated by a football association in England is about ?40,000.

Jeng said his foundation is ready to support Gambia in the future.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the principal of St Augustine's Senior Secondary School, Martin Gomez, who also doubles as the president of the Gambia Secondary School Sports Association.

Principal Gomez commended the donors for their "timely gesture" and urged other Gambians in the diaspora to emulate Yaram Arts and Sports.
