Yaram Arts & Sports, afford set to present jerseys to Gambian Sports Associations

Yaram Arts and Sports and its sister company Afford in the UK are set to present 800 England football team jerseys valued about ?40,000 to various sports associations in The Gambia.

The presentation ceremony is scheduled to take place at St Augustine’s Senior Secondary School tomorrow.

The high quality England jerseys, according to the director of Yaram Arts and Sports, Njok Malik Jeng, is sought from the English FA with the help of its sister company Afford.

Afford - African Foundation for Research and Development - intends to help raise the standard of sports in The Gambia.

“The main idea behind the distribution of the jerseys emanated from the efforts of the Gambians resident in the UK, to support various disciplines of sports in the country,” said Jeng, who walked into The Point’s offices yesterday afternoon.

The other beneficiaries will be schools, nawetaan teams across the country and the community at large.

This initiative, according to Mr Jeng, is supported by a host of sports personalities in The Gambia including the youth and sports minister, Hon. Sheriff Gomez.
