Ansumana Colley, a prosecution witness, on Tuesday testified at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court in the case involving one Mariama Jagne, charged with forgery and stealing by clerk or servant.
Colley told the court he worked at the Internal Audit Unit of the head office of the International Commercial Bank at Kairaba Avenue.
He said he was employed in the said bank on 6 June 2009 while the accused was already there as the senior credit officer.
Colley said between November and December 2009, an internal enquiry was going on concerning the accused person, adding that on 12 August 2009, he was asked to investigate the accused’s activities from July to August 2009, in his capacity as internal auditor.
He said their investigation revealed that some fraudulent activities had been made which involved some customers’ account.
He added that during their investigation they discovered that some funds were used to transfer from one account to another and subsequently the funds were withdrawn.
According to Colley, they reviewed those documents and discovered that the accused approved the documents.
The case was adjourned till 16 April 2012.
