Bakary Baldeh is requesting for assistance to carry out an overseas treatment of his 24-year-old daughter, Fatoumata Baldeh.
According to a certified report by the Medical Board of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital, Fatoumata Baldeh has a history of road accident since she was a child.
Since December 2008, she has been complaining of difficulty in walking and has developed severe back pain which radiates to the legs.
Her back condition is deteriorating as well, which makes her unable to stand and have the cause to be using a wheelchair.
The physical examination records that atrophy of muscles of both legs, muscle power diminish in both legs, although reflexes and sensitivity are normal.
The Medical Board concludes that this patient can only be treated overseas.
Fatoumata Baldeh has already got a hospital in the US ready to undertake the treatment but the poor girl would need financial support to travel to the US.
Bakary Baldeh, the patient’s father, is therefore soliciting financial support to enable his daughter undergo the treatment in the US.
The financial cost involved, he said, range from hospital bill, to flight ticket to and fro, hotel accommodation, alongside the cost of an aide who will be assisting the patients in her movement, since she is on a wheelchair, and also at the same time, the aide will be an interpreter between her and the hospital authorities because she is illiterate.
