Francis Eku Forbes-Serrekunda West are double winners of Saturday's final of the 5th edition of the Girls U-16 and Boys U-14 Gifts Matarr Sarr Memorial Youth tournament.
Goals from Famara Jarju and Lamin Sibi in the 13th and 20th minute help earned the Francis Eku Forbes, Serrekunda West U-14 boys team title following a hard fought battle from a goal down.
Pa Mamadi Sowe-Farato took an early lead in the 10th minute of the game, but succumbed to their opponents who overtook them throughout the game.
Awa Demba was the hero of the Francis Eku Forbes-Serrekunda West U-16 female side after netting all the four goals of the female U-16 final to tame opponents, Ok Saho-Banjul South.
According to Alieu Jeng coordinator of the Gifts Academy, all the participating teams in both male and female categories from Banjul Central and North, Serrekunda East and West, Bakau, Sukuta and Farato were named after people who have contributed to football in the past.
Pa Louis Prom was named after Banjul Central, Ok Saho, Banjul South, Francis Eku Forbes, Serrekunda West, Saul Samba, Bakau, BO Janneh, Serrekunda East, Omar Sandu Bojang, Sukuta and Pa Mamadi, Sowe, Farato.
Winners and runners-up in each category received a trophy and medals.
Earlier, the GIFTS Football Academy was also crowned champions of a 16-team Real de Banjul feeder team sponsored tournament on April 2nd 2010.
