Tapha Manneh, head coach of Gamtel FC, has said they are going to Tunisia “not to defend but to play football and win” when they face CSS of Tunisia in the CAF Confederation Cup to be played in the weekend of 15, 16 and 17 March in Tunis.
Gamtel are set to leave the country today for Tunisia, head coach Manneh said while he was speaking following his side’s 2-0 win over Hawks FC in their week-eight fixture of the GFA first division league played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
He said the CSS is a big team but that everything starts from one, adding that they are also growing because they have made series of appearances in the competition so far.
“We are going there to score a goal and not to defend, no matter what, and if that goal is going to serve as our win we will take it,” he remarked.
“I see no reason why we cannot beat them in Tunis,” said the confident-looking coach who was quick to add that playing away is not an easy task.
He also said they were using their game against Hawks FC as their preparation, which was why they took it seriously since they did not have any test game.
The win was vital for them as their main priority this season is to win the league since they have won both the FA and Super Cup.
Their attacking force is very good and are improving compared to last season, he said, adding that his team played well, especially during the second period of the game.
The return leg is expected to be played in Banjul in fortnight.
