Two senior officers of the National Drug Enforcement Agency (NDEA) have been released, after 43 days in detention, informed sources have told The Point.

Pa Habib Mbye, Director of Intelligence and Investigation, and Foday Barry, Crime Management Coordinator and Director of Operations at NDEA, were released without charge.

The duo were arrested on 11 May this year and held until last Friday 22 June, when they were released from custody.

Though the reason(s) for the duo’s arrest is not clear to this paper, it has been alleged that their arrest was in connection with the NDEA investigative report on the University of The Gambia, UTG, which was tendered as evidence in the false information trial of Dr Gumbo Touray, former Director of International Affairs at the UTG.
