Twenty- five martial artists from the Banjul club of the Gambia Kung Fu Association went through an examination, meant to grade participants and prepare them for international competitions.

Sunday's exercise, according to Ebou Sanyang, Public Relations Officer of the national body, was purposely organised to recognise the most talented students in the Kung fu clubs countrywide and also scout participants for international outings.

"The event is also expected to help us produce good and talented black belts at the end of the training," Sanyang who has accumulated a wealth of experience in Kung Fu stated

The initiative is part of the association's effort to decentralise kung fu across the country.

Ebou Sanyang, widely called Jet-Li, himself an outstanding Kung Fu demonstrator highlighted that the programme also gave the association the unique opportunity to examine the talents of students from various  disciplines, such as loyalty, physical, technique, etc.

Jet-Li, who began his Kung Fu career in his home town, Faji Kunda added that participants will be awarded certificates by officials, in a bid to promote the best students to another stage or belt.
