The Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) students' sub-union executive committee recently handed over their mantle of leadership to a new committee.

The handing over ceremony, which was held at the GTTI campus, brought together the entire membership of the law student body.

Speaking at the ceremony, the mother of the GTTI sub-union committee, Mrs. Ceesay said that the outgoing executive has just ended their term of office, adding that they only needed commendation from the entire membership for a job well-done.

"Don't put your colleagues into power and in turn criticize them for no good reasons," she said, noting that their criticism should be based on facts.

She appealed to the members to be punctual in school so that they will not miss their lessons and to also have good academic record.

For his part, the outgoing president of the GTTI student sub-union Mr. Lamin Gassama emphasised the need for unification among the members of the union and asserted that as students they share many things in common.

Mr. Gassama in his own words said unionism is based on voluntarism, noting that the foundation of peace is built on social justice.

The GTTI sub-union out-going president Gassama officially handed over the file to the incoming president of the union, Mr. Muhammed Nyan.
