Trio cautioned and discharged

Magistrate Jallow of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently cautioned and discharged Omar Gassama, Karamba Ceesay and Edrisa Camara on a charge of stealing.

Meanwhile, the fourth accused, Mbye Kebbeh, who was charged with receiving stolen property, was discharged and acquitted.

According to the charge sheet on count one, Omar Gassama, Karamba Ceesay and Edrisa Camara, on 17 March 2011, at Sankung Sillah & Sons Company Limited, in the Kanifing Municipality, jointly stole machine spare parts (metals) and iron pipes valued at D174,900, the property of the said company.

The charge sheet on count two stated that Mbye Kebbeh, on 20 March 2011, at Bambo Cement, in the Kanifing Municipality, received or retained machine spare parts (metals) and iron pipes from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd accused persons at the price of D800, knowing or having reasons to believe same to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

In another development one Abdoulie Jeng was also recently cautioned and discharged as well as ordered to keep the peace for a period of one year.

Convicted on a charge of theft, Abdoulie Jeng was also ordered to compensate the complainant with D1,000 in default to serve one month in prison.

The charge sheet revealed that, the convict, Abdoulie Jeng, in June 2011, at Kotu, in the Kanifing Municipality, fraudulently converted three pieces of cloths and D110, being the money given to him for sewing of the said pieces of cloths, which he never did and disappeared with the said money and cloths, thereby committed an offence.
